1 THESSALONIANS
This is likely to be Paul’s earliest letter that we know about, written to a group of households in Thessaloniki, Greece who had pledged their allegiance to Emperor Jesus, rather than the Emperor Claudius (‘Emperor’ is an Imperial title like ‘King’ or ‘Lord’). You can read the story of how Paul first met these people in Acts 17. It’s a dramatic story and especially helpful to understanding this letter, so you might want to go and read that right now.
